Yobe State was created on August 27, 1991 during the regime of former president Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida with its capital at Damaturu. It shares boundaries with Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, and the Republic of Niger. The current Governor is H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni elected on 29th May, 2019 under the All Progressive Congress together with his deputy Hon. Idi Barde Gubana. Rt. Hon. Ahmed Lawan Mirwa is the Honorable Speaker State House of Assembly.
