Plateau State was created on 27 May, 1967 during the regime of former president General Murtala Mohammed (Late) with Jos as it capital city. The State shares boundary with Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna, Bauchi, Nasarawa and Gombe State. The current governor is H.E Rt. Hon Simon Bako Lalong elected under the All Progressive Congress (APC) together with his deputy Prof. Sonni Gwanle Tyoden. Rt. Hon. Abok Nuhu Ayuba is the Honorable speaker State House of Assembly.
