Oyo State was created in February 3, 1976 during the regime of the former president General Murtala Mohammed (Late), with its capital at Ibadan, Oyo State shares boundaries in the north with Kwara State, in the east by Osun State, in the south by Ogun State and in the west partly by Ogun State and partly by the Republic of Benin. The current Governor is H.E. Seyi Makinde together with his Deputy Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan elected under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Hon. Debo Ogundoyin is the Honorable Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
