Lagos State was created on 27 May, 1967 during the regime of former president Gen. Gowon Yakubu. It shares boundary with Republic of Benin, Ogun State and the Atlantic Ocean. The current Governor is H. E. Babajide Sanwo-Olu who was elected under the All Progressive Congress (APC) together with his deputy Kadri Obafemi Hamzat. Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa is the Honourable Speaker, State House of Assembly.
