Katsina State was created on Wednesday, September 23, 1987, during the regime of former president Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida with its capital at Katsina. It shares boundaries with Kano, Zamfara, Jigawa, Kaduna and the Republic of Niger. The current Governor is H. E. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari who was elected on 29th May, 2019 under the All Progressive Congress together with his deputy Mannir Yakubu. Rt. Hon. Tasiu Musa Maigari is the Honorable Speaker of the House of Assembly.
