Kano state was created on May 27, 1967 during the regime of former president Gen. Gowon Yakubu with its capital at Kano. It shares boundaries with Katsina State , Jigawa State , Bauchi State and Kaduna State .The current Governor is H. E. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who was elected under the All Progressive Congress together with his deputy Prof. Hafiz Abubakar. Rt. Hon. Abdul’aziz Garba Gafasa is the Honorable Speaker of the House of Assembly.
