Delta State was created on 27th August, 1991 during the reigme of former President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida with the capital city at Asaba. It has boundaries with Edo, Anambra, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Ondo State of Nigeria. The current Governor is H.E Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa who was re-elected in 29th May, 2019 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) together with his deputy Barr. Otuaro Kingsley Burutu. Rt. Hon. (Chief) Sheriff F.O Oboreviwori is the Honorable Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
