Zamfara State

Zamfara State was created 1 October, 1996 during the regime of fomer president Late Gen. Sani Abacha with the capital at Gusau. It shares boundaries with Sokoto, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger State and the Republic of Niger. The current governor is H. E. Dr. Bello Mohammed MON, who was elected on 29th May, 2019 under the People’s Democratic Party together with his deputy Mahadi Aliyu Gusau. He defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC) in June 2021. Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya is the Honorable speaker State House of Assembly.
