Sokoto State was created on October, 1996 during the regime of former president General Sani Abacha. It shares boundaries with Kebbi, Zamfara State and the Republic of Niger. The current governor is H. E. Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal CFR who was elected under the People’s Democratic party together with his deputy Alhaji Manir Dan-Iya. Hon. Aminu Achida is the Honorable Speaker State House of Assembly.
