River State

River State was created on 27th May, 1967 under the administration of General Yakubu Gowon, with its capital in Port Harcourt. The state shares boundaries on the South with the Atlantic Ocean, to the North by Imo, Abia and Anambra States, to the East by Akwa Ibom State, and to the West by Bayelsa and Delta states. The current governor is H.E Ezenwo Nyesom Wike elected under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) together with his Deputy Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry-Banigo. Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi Owaji Ibani KSC, DSSRS is the honourable Speaker State House of Assembly.
