Enugu state was created on 27th August, 1991 during the regime of former Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida with the capital at Enugu. It has boundaries with Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Benue, Kogi, and Anambra state of Nigeria. The current Governor is H.E. Rt. Hon Ugwuanyi Ifeanyi who was re-elected on 29th May, 2019 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) together with his deputy Lolo Ezeilo Cecelia. Rt. Hon. Obosi Edward is the Honorable Speaker of the State house of Assembly.
