Borno State was created on 3rd February, 1976 during the regime of former president Late General Muritala Mohammed with the capital at Maidugri. It shares boundaries with Yola, Gombe, and Adamawa States of Nigeria. The current Governor is H.E. Umaru Zulum Babagana who was elected in 29th May, 2019 under the All Progressive Congress (APC) together with his deputy H.E. Umaru Usman Kadafur. Rt. Hon. Lawan Abdulkarim is the Honorable Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
